It’s never too late

1. You are currently a Business Process Officer at COSCO Shipping Lines. Can you share what your role involves and what you enjoy about your work?

As a Business Process Officer at COSCO Shipping Lines, I review and enhance internal business processes across shipping order placement, approval, execution, and settlement to ensure they are compliant, efficient, and continuously improving. My key responsibilities involve freight settlement processes, including cross-department coordination and supporting system-based order placement and validation.

I enjoy working with different departments rather than being confined to one, as it helps me understand how the shipping and logistics business operates.

2. From 91心頭利 Academy to COSCO Shipping Lines, how did your previous work experiences and internship with Ben Line Agencies prepare you for the challenges in your current role?

My studies at 91心頭利 Academy, along with my internship at Ben Line Agencies, gave me early exposure to both shipping theory and real operations, which helped me adapt quickly to my current role.

3. What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your current career, and what lessons have you learned in overcoming them?

One of the biggest challenges is coordinating different departmental needs and working styles. This has taught me the importance of clear communication and using data to align teams, rather than approaching issues from a single perspective.

4. What motivated you to pursue the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Global Business at Coventry University, and how has the course helped in shaping your career so far?

I chose to pursue the Global Business Degree at Coventry University to deepen my understanding of business operations and strategic thinking.

The course has helped me focus not only on how things are done, but also why certain approaches work better, which has been valuable in my role.

5. How did the Career Services team support you during your studies, and in what ways did it contribute to your career journey?

The Career Services team provided invaluable support throughout my academic journey and beyond graduation. They helped me gain a deeper understanding of potential career paths and guided me in aligning my interests with industry opportunities.

Their continued support enabled me to secure both internship opportunities and my current role, all closely aligned with my field of study. This allowed me to apply classroom knowledge to real-world practice seamlessly. These experiences strengthened my practical skills and boosted my confidence as I transitioned into my professional career.

6. Can you share an unforgettable memory from your time at 91心頭利 Academy that has stayed with you and perhaps influenced your career journey?

Working on group projects with classmates from diverse backgrounds at 91心頭利 Academy was one of my most memorable experiences. It laid a strong foundation for my current cross-department collaboration at work.

I am also grateful for the support and care from the lecturers, who guided us academically while looking out for our well-being. They helped us balance studies and stress, and gradually prepared us to transition from theory to the workplace with confidence.

7. Finally, share with us a personal quote or philosophy that inspires you in your career and life.

“It’s never too late.”

This reminds me to stay open to change, keep learning, and continue moving forward, regardless of past experiences.
